Years ago, Dr. Zabala brought Lily—her loyal dachshund—from Colombia when she moved to the United States. Lily later developed Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a condition that led to paralysis and significant mobility challenges.
Navigating Lily’s rehabilitation, treatment decisions, and daily care opened Dr. Zabala’s eyes even more deeply to the resilience of animals and the power of compassion. Lily’s journey has become a profound reminder that healing is not just clinical—it is emotional, hopeful, and shared with those we love.
This experience continues to shape the way Dr. Zabala cares for her dental patients: with empathy, attentiveness, and a heart grounded in understanding.
Inspired by Lily’s journey, Dr. Zabala proudly supports Dachshund Rescue South Florida (DRSF)—a nonprofit organization committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dachshunds in need throughout the region.

Alexandra has been part of the Swim Florida community for years and still swims with them every week. The pool is where she recharges, connects with friends, and stays active—so supporting Swim Florida is a natural extension of her commitment to wellness and community.
Through this partnership, Ocean Vibe Dental helps Swim Florida continue offering training opportunities, coaching, and local swim events that build confidence in and out of the water. It’s one more way our practice invests in the health, joy, and resilience of the Fort Myers community we’re honored to serve.
